4 Track Minds

So those of you that don't know us we are two food junkies who love going on adventures for new food, new places for the usual food, and we turn just about any other adventure/roadtrip into a new food adventure. We LOVE food and don't discriminate. We will take in suggestions, ideas, new places no matter how far away it is or how strange the place. Stay tuned because we will be posting new places, old places, the best cheapest parking nearby, the best times to go to avoid the long lines and the freshest ingredients if thats an issue. We will also try our best to accommodate those with special needs such as our vegetarian friends *cough adam and bri cough* by finding something for you too, but.............. no promises :P We have a rating system similar to the 5 star or 4 star rankings, for us if the restaurant stole the attention of all 4 tracks of our minds then thats the best 4 track- almost orgasmic 3 track- great but have had better 2 track- alright and will go again if there's no other choice 1 track- we're telling you this so you don't go here unless its a dire situation. $- pretty darn cheap you'll go to this place when you're in a hurry and don't have alot of money $$- decent price if you feel like eating out but don't want to spend the big bucks but feel like a full and tasty meal $$$- When you want a nice night out, really good food and pricey but darn well worth it.

“Hooked” on Hook Burger Bistro (Oxnard, Ca)

Hook Burger Bistro. You’d think you would find Captain Hook around the place somewhere, but not at this new hotspot in Oxnard. No, pretty sure the word “Hook” in the place’s name comes from being “hooked” and wanting to come back again and again.

Evan was the one insistent on going to check it out, (he LOVES burgers) and I’m really glad we did. His dad saw their new opening article in the newspaper and really suggested we go to it. It turns out that Hook Burger Bistro is owned by the same owners of the chain restaurant The Habit, which I feel should be put under debate, won Ventura County’s best burger. With that in mind, we were curious as to how this place would differentiate itself.

Walking in we saw waitresses walking around checking on customers in these elegant comfy booths, so we thought “Oh cool! The Habit owners made a restaurant burger joint!” Little did we know, it wasn’t quite what we thought.

Standing in the middle of the restaurant, where what should have been the hostess table, was not. We turned to our left and saw a giant LED screen of a menu. Next to the menu was a woman behind a cash register asking if she could take our order. Taking a minute to grasp all that was around us, we stepped back to examine the menu and the surrounding restaurant.

They had an open kitchen and tons of booths just like the burger chain The Habit, but that’s about all they had in common. The biggest thing that differentiates Hook Burger Bistro in appearance not only from The Habit, but all burger joints is that you can order a drink and eat at their full shelved side bar!

Putting aside the cool factor for a second and trying to focus on what we wanted to eat, we were in awe of the menu. One page of choices is what I really like about the place. They focus on a few choices of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and sides and conquer them in great taste. It’s simple, to the point, and great quality.

As soon as you order, you pay, just like any fast food place, but the difference is that after you’re done ordering and given your beverage, that’s the last time you’ll feel like you’re at a fast food place; the rest of the evening is catered to you. Your food is brought to you and your refills are taken care of by their “waitresses.” The “waitresses” are part of the experience so it’s not necessary to tip, but you can if you’d like. Hook Burger Bistro gives you the experience of being at a restaurant without paying the price.

Not only does Hook Burger Bistro wow you with presentation of their place, but they blow you away with the quality and amount you get for the price you pay. Their food literally looks like a $16 dollar burger, while only paying a fourth of the price. This place is worth every inexpensive penny you pay and is one of our new top burger spots. We know you’ll feel the same and get hooked, too.
